DR JULIAN BOO
DPM, M.OT, BSc (Medical Science)
As one of the first few doctors to graduate and complete the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Course in Australia from the University of Western Australia in 2015, Dr Boo graduated with distinction and the Podiatrist’s Registration Board of WA Prize as well as the Athlete’s Foot Prize for Excellence. With a background in Medical Science and a Masters in Occupational Therapy from Curtin
University, Dr Boo has spent over a decade of his career working primarily with other practitioners in both private and hospital settings as well as the Department of Human Services as a Medical Assessor. In 2007, Dr Boo spent his time volunteering abroad in China with Go Global Health to create and assist in rehabilitation programs for children with disabilities before returning to Australia and focusing on disability assessments and further studies. After completing the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Course at UWA in 2015 and working with St John Of God Health Care, Dr Boo was then awarded with a Service Medal in recognition for his work.
With vast experience in all areas of podiatry including general nail and skin care, biomechanics/sporting cases, dry needling, osteopathic manipulation, and ingrown nail surgery, Julian’s desire to specialise in podiatric medicine primarily lay in his passion to assist individuals from all walks of life, young and old, to develop or return to their active and everyday lifestyles. Since starting his private practice in 2016, Dr Boo has serviced not only patients in the nearby
metropolitan area but also to the community in remote and rural areas of Western Australia. His passion has always been for the community around him and has held the position of the University of Western Australia’s 2015 Podiatric Medicine Student Society’s President and is the current President of the University of Western Australia’s Podiatric Medicine Alumni. From the experiences and opportunities presented to him, Dr Boo was then able to establish the Boo Family Prize with the University of Western Australia to encourage and celebrate the achievements of students also studying the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Course. Outside of work, Julian likes to consider himself a food connoisseur, a movie fanatic, a lover of music, a travel enthusiast and an Instagram husband to his wife Donna of ten years. He is also an advanced diver, an avid road cyclist and has fundraised and ridden for many charities including Compassion, Canteen, Style Pho You and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
